From Sea to Shore

Updated on September 6, 2012

Time Will Tell

Whilst walking alone on the beach today, I thanked God for the peace and tranquillity that I experienced. Recently, walking alone along the shore has become a very important feature in my life. At this point I have to be honest, and say that the beach is not really on my fan list, preferring the mountain lakes, and forests. Nonetheless, what I experienced today was a welcome hiccup in my life. Sometimes comfort comes in many guises, and today comfort was all around me. Today was a great day to be alone.

A Free Verse Poem

The Mountains of Mourne

Absent Friends

The granite Mountains of Mourne stand like sentinels

over the majestic ocean for as far as the eye can see.

Today the breeze over the shore is strong,

and I turn my face to the fading sun,

grateful for the gentle caress of warmth from the golden glow.

The tide whispers “you are not alone,”

as I sit holding my knees below my chin, staring across the deep blue water,

I can see my bare toes clenching under the effervescing foam,

I remember that you like to see the pretty nails painted,

but today they are just plain, and I smile, melancholy.

The pebbles that adorn the shore line are tinged with blue and rust,

and the razor clams and crab shells lie vacant at my feet.

Along the shore I see you standing, straight, tall, proud,

and I walk towards you in the rising moon light.

I smile, and turn my face upwards to feel the gentle breeze once more,

whilst I bite my lip in anticipation of what is to come.

You smile at me now; your arms are open wide to invite my soul,

and I fall content against your chest and allow my hands

to firmly touch your skin, so strong, so many hard muscles, yet tender.

I kneel before you as the surf rolls over my legs,

but I am not ashamed of what I will do, and tease the zipper on your slacks.

My hands gently pull on yours and I stare into the succulent of my desire,

that I see before me, appreciating all that I am now.

You drop to your knees in front of me, and take me in your arms

you know that there is no turning back now.

Once again I look into those chocolate brown eyes of languor temptation,

and as your knees start to tremble, I am enveloped in your love.

“You are not alone” the breeze whispers once more,

“go and light a driftwood fire, and eat toasted marshmallows

late into the night”

Don’t look further, for your dreams will be reality to come,

all you have to do is believe that “you are not alone.”

For I am all encompassing around you, and holding you tight.

"Are you ready my love, for what the future holds?"
